Days of the week and months tracing worksheets
The seven days of the week and the twelve months of the year, one a page, to print and trace. Each page has the word large with numbered start dots and arrows on every letter, then rows of it in dots to trace on four-line guides, then lines to write it alone. Each word starts with its capital letter, the way it is written in a sentence.

Which letters the words practise
Between them, the 19 words use 19 of the 26 lowercase letters. The seven they leave out are f, j, k, q, w, x and z. Friday, February, January, June, July and Wednesday have f, j and w only as capitals. To practise every letter, add fish, jacket, key, quilt, watch, box and zeppelin to the words in the book maker: each has a picture, and each brings in one of the missing letters.
The capitals are S, M, T, W, F, J, A, O, N and D: ten of the 26. Sunday, Saturday and September share S; Monday, March and May share M; Tuesday and Thursday share T; Friday and February share F; January, June and July share J; April and August share A.
Tall letters and tails
On the four-line guides, every capital reaches the headline, and only Q drops below the baseline, so each of these words reaches up at least once. Of the lowercase letters, seven rise to the headline: b, d, f, h, k, l and t. Five drop below the baseline: g, j, p, q and y. None of these words stays between the baseline and the midline all the way. All 19 reach up to the headline: Sunday (S and d), Monday (M and d), Tuesday (T and d), Wednesday (W and d), Thursday (T, h and d), Friday (F and d), Saturday (S, t and d), January (J), February (F and b), March (M and h), April (A and l), May (M), June (J), July (J and l), August (A and t), September (S, t and b), October (O, t and b), November (N and b) and December (D and b). Fourteen drop below the baseline: Sunday (y), Monday (y), Tuesday (y), Wednesday (y), Thursday (y), Friday (y), Saturday (y), January (y), February (y), April (p), May (y), July (y), August (g) and September (p). Every day of the week ends in a y.
The words by length and strokes
A stroke is one movement of the pencil, from putting it down to lifting it, and each letter on the page shows its strokes with numbered start dots. These words run from 5 to 11 strokes, 159 in all. May is the shortest word, at three letters. May and June take the fewest strokes, 5 each; February takes the most, 11.
Ordered by strokes instead, fewest first, the words go May, June, March, July, Sunday, Monday, April, October, Tuesday, January, August, November, December, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, September and February. Words with the same count keep their order above. One of the biggest changes is Wednesday: it has nine letters but takes 10 strokes, as y takes two, so it moves from fourth to fourteenth. To make the book in that order, open Trace Press with the words by strokes.
