Free alphabet tracing worksheets with pictures, A to Z
26 printable pages, one letter to a page: A is for apple, B is for ball, C is for cat, all the way to Z is for zeppelin. Each page has the capital and lowercase letter large, with numbered start dots and stroke arrows, a picture to colour with its word under it, then rows to trace.

8.5" × 11", about 230 KB, no sign-up. The lines are 1" from top to bottom, the Trace Press setting for ages 4–5. A small footer line on each page says where it came from.
The words
apple, ball, cat, dog, egg, fish, grape, horse, ice cream, jacket, key, lemon, moon, nut, octagon, pig, rabbit, sun, tree, umbrella, van, watch, box, yarn and zeppelin.
X is for box, with the x at the end, as many alphabet books do it. Q has no picture yet: the only Q outline in the icon sets Trace Press uses is a chess queen, which a child won't read as a queen, so the Q page is the plain letter page.
What is on each page
- The capital and lowercase letter, large, with numbered start dots and stroke arrows.
- The picture, an outline with nothing filled in so a child can colour it, and the word under it in bold.
- Rows of dotted capitals and lowercase letters to trace, two of each. With smaller lines, more rows fit, and the extra ones have one dotted letter and room to write it alone.
The letters are vertical print, drawn in the stroke order and direction of a published school handwriting model. The pictures are Tabler Icons (MIT licence) and Lucide (ISC licence), both free to use in a book you sell.
A different line size or page size
Trace Press makes the same pages at any of four line sizes, from 1" lines for ages 4–5 down to smaller lines for older children, and at six page sizes. You can also add the numbers 0 to 9, pre-writing lines and your own practice words, which get a picture too when Trace Press has one.

The pages are laid out to Amazon KDP's paperback rules, and Trace Press makes a full-wrap cover sized to the book.
